Sounds like a standard lead acid battery charger that wont work.
Only Li-Ion ones I know are industrial spec machines with specific software for them.
BMW have not confirmed yet which countries would get the Li-ion batteries.
It may be all or only just some.
So till deliveries start one cannot know if one needs a new charger or not.
