+1 to what everyone else has said so far!

BimmerLink will let you easily check the state of charge of your battery. So, if you fully charge your battery (with a charger), then you'll be able to monitor it w/ your driving habits.

If you're getting an "increased discharge while stopped" error due to a parasitic drain, then it is likely that there will be a code stored telling you which circuit is involved (i.e. comfort access handles come to mind) - and BimmerLink will be able to retrieve stored BMW codes for you.

I use the OBDLinkCX bluetooth reader. There are many others out there that work just fine. I like the OBDLinkCX because it has a low power mode (i.e. "sleep" so doesn't trip alarm) and it is very small & compact so I can leave it plugged in 24/7 and open up my BimmerLink Dashboard to check fluid temps, pressures, etc all very quickly.
