Highlights:

Premiere of the new BMW 5 Series Touring (not available in North America): The fifth-generation model writes the next chapter in the Touring’s 25-year success story at the premium end of the executive class. Driving pleasure, aesthetic appeal, innovation and intelligent functionality are the defining characteristics of this 5 Series body variant.

 New chassis technology and BMW EfficientLightweight help the new model to build on the 5 Series Touring’s segment leadership in terms of dynamic excellence, agility and precision. The weight of each model has been reduced by up to 100 kilograms on average over its equivalent in the outgoing range.

 Exterior design – including a dynamically stretched silhouette, an eye- catching front end and a rear-end design accentuating the width of the body – underlines the sporting character of the new BMW 5 Series Touring.

 Exterior dimensions grow by 36 millimetres to 4,943 millimetres in length, by eight millimetres to 1,868 millimetres in width and by ten millimetres to 1,498 millimetres in height. Wheelbase is 7 millimetres longer, at
2,975 millimetres.

 Significant increase in on-board spaciousness and enhanced premium ambience for the interior. Optimised, sedan-level interior acoustics. More head-, shoulder- and legroom in all seats. Extra comfort in the rear thanks to new backrest contours, greater seat depth and extended kneeroom. Interior is wide enough to accommodate three child seats in the rear.

Boot capacity increased to 570 – 1,700 litres, permissible load up by 120 kilograms, to 720 – 730 kilograms. Intelligent variability and exceptional functionality provided by 40 : 20 : 40 split/folding rear seat backrest, electric remote backrest release operated by a button in the boot, stowage compartment for load area cover and partition net underneath the boot floor, separately-opening rear window, automatic tailgate opening/closing as standard (hands-free as an open).

 Market launch in June 2017 with extensive choice of engines. Petrol and diesel units with four and six cylinders. BMW xDrive all-wheel drive available in conjunction with two engine variants from launch.

 Significantly expanded selection of driver assistance systems further reduce the gap to automated driving. Enhanced comfort and safety courtesy of Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function, Crossing traffic warning and Priority warning, Lane Change Assistant and Lane keeping assistant with active side collision protection, evasion aid and the Steering and lane control assistant working at up to 210 km/h (130 mph). Hazard warning through link-up with other BMW vehicles. Remote Control Parking using the BMW Display Key.

 BMW Connected provides extensive vehicle-smartphone connectivity. Exceptional functionality assisting personal appointment and mobility planning, communications and infotainment. Real Time Traffic Information and On-Street Parking Information. Management of calendar, emails and contact details via Microsoft Exchange.

 Exemplary efficiency underpinned by a cut in fuel consumption of up to 11 per cent. All diesel models have exhaust gas treatment, including an SCR system.

 Stand-out combination of dynamic excellence and ride comfort due to newly developed chassis components with lightweight construction. Air suspension for the rear axle as standard. Dynamic Damper Control, roll stabilisation, Integral Active Steering and M Sport suspension also available in conjunction with BMW xDrive.

 Systematically optimised display and operating concept with latest- generation BMW iDrive, including Touch Controller, 10.25-inch touchscreen and tile-look menu display, BMW gesture control and natural voice commands. New Head-Up Display has a 70 per cent larger projection surface.
 LED daytime driving lights, dipped and main-beam headlights as standard, BMW Selective Beam LED headlights with variable light distribution and dazzle-free main beam available as an option.

 Longer and wider panoramic glass sunroof with comfort opening. Electric seat adjustment with touch-sensitive sensors. Comfort seats with eight massage programs.

 Wireless smartphone integration via Bluetooth and inductive charging, use of Apple CarPlay and WiFi hotspot for up to 10 devices.
