haven't driven manual since 20 years ago (required to take license in manual back then in Taiwan), but I don't even look at tach. to shift, just use to hear engine sound, though given how quiet modern car is that might be difficult...
though seriously for the guys who shift yourself, what do you do? more aggressive downshift?
