There is certainly some slight drone, but as long as you don't go crazy with RPMs it's very bearable. I tend to go above our highway speed limits (200ish) and the sound doesn't bother me on long distance trips at all. Passengers aren't complaining either.
Apart from the high speed drone issue, the purchase is well worth it and makes the car so much more enjoyable to drive. The sound really provokes you to floor it, to get those sweet sounding downshifts, and at times that really makes you forget that you have a 2 liter engine under the bonnet.
