Because when you are tall, you lower the seat. When you are fat, you need a bigger seat.
I am 6 feet tall and have the seat about 3/4 of the way up and somewhat far forward so that I can get good vis. over the G31s chunky hood section and have a proper bend in my elbow for steering. If I lower the seat all the way or push back too far I can barely see out.
Tall people should have no major problems in modern BMWs.
