Looking to Order an M550i (Norther Virginia)

Hi All,

I've been lurking periodically about on this forum for the last year or so thinking about the LCI M550i. The stock in the Washington DC area is pretty low for on-lot cars and a good chunk of what actually shows up from a dealer's inventory appears to be custom orders they seem to list on their website even though it's not far sale. I actually recently found one I was ready to pull the trigger on but we could not quite come to terms on the MSRP discount. Looks like I got them to around 7% but not quite what I was looking to pay.

As a result I would like to look at ordering. I've been following posts on here and I see a number of people indicating 9-10% off MSRP is an achievable target. At this point I would place an order today if I can find a dealer that would give me 10% off MSRP + incentives. I see a few people also mention using brokers too. I've got no experience with this though and don't mind doing the legwork myself though if I can land the same deal. I have the main benefit of not needing to buy a car (e.g. not coming off a lease) but have the itch and would like to scratch it sooner than later... especially if I'm looking at 2-3 months lead time.

Here are my questions if you guys do not mind helping. I have read the other threads here but still feel the need to ask these.

1) Does anyone have a dealership/sales person in Northern Virginia (or Maryland) they think/know would work with me at the ~10% off MSRP figure? Would love to be put in touch if so. I've seen in a thread someone mentioning not much luck with NOVA dealers > 9%.

2) What is an effective strategy to find a dealer willing to do this deal? I do not have a lot of time to travel in person and have found dealers extremely slow to respond to basic questions via e-mail or phone. E.g. I've asked what October incentives look like and have had no reply, although I think I may have found my answer. I can create a build code and spam it out to dealers if that's what people do but not sure if they are receptive to this method?

3) I have read people that order tend to be able to get the better of the incentives available when they place their order vs the incentives available at delivery. Is this really true? Namely -- does this expire at some point? Also, do incentives available through the likes of USAA that potentially expire October 31 still apply if the car is delivered in December?

Thanks in advance.
