Don't k ow which country you are in but in the uk there are several sites where you can put in your details and it will come back with a price from several dealers, one example is carwow.
So do that get the best price and print it out.
If trading in find out what the trade in value is , again print it out.
Then go to the dealers and say you want xxx for your car and want to pay yyy for the new one.
Suggest you also say you don't want any paint coatings( rip off and if you want to go that route go to a retailer separately), you don't want gap insurance as you can get that cheaper elsewhere.
Then just sit there and see what they say. If they question the figures then get out your printouts as your evidence.
They will then know they are dealing with someone who knows exactly what they want and how much they want to pay.
Hopefully they can do a deal like that for you. Be prepared to walk.
I think they personally prefer that approach , less faffing around.
