Same issue but with Korea

Hello all, this was an email I sent to BMW genius in regards to hopefully help me with my issue that I will have in May. I do not want to use a third party to install, or fix these issues as I believe BMW have the resources and capacity to fix them.

Dear BMW Genius,

I have a few inquires that I would like to address, and hopefully have a
positive reply/feedback. I will be purchasing a new BMW 2018 M550i through
the military sales program. Some of the questions I had for the dealer were
not addressed because the individual *did not* know the answer to the
question whereas I have found answers from other BMW owners from other BMW
forums (Bimmerpost/Bimmerfest).

First question, Is it possible to change the eSIM on the *US Spec BMW*
vehicles when the vehicle is in a different country? I would like to have
the WiFi-Hotspot here in South Korea, which have relatively low Data plans.
If this option does not work could I buy a dongle (WiFi portable device)
and use it to provide the data to the vehicle?

Second Question, For connected drive, what are some of the possibilities
can I do when I'm driving a BMW in a foreign country? I haven't found any
definitive answer on any BMW forums besides coding. Is there a solution
when ever a US Spec BMW is moved to a different country on how to fix it? I
did see one BMW owner from bimmerfest in regards to connected drive, that
the *(BMW UK connected drive team)* contacted the BMW German team to have the account switched over to the Asia region which fixed the issue. Can
this possibly be a solution?

Lastly, possibly the most important question for me is about the *Navigation
and Headup-Display.* Due to the vehicle being US Specifications I saw that
navigation and HUD will not be supported here in South Korea. Now I have
seen cases in Europe and Korea that manual coding can fix this issue. BMW
being one of the most sophisticated, largest, and well respected automakers
in the world, I would not see how this cannot be accomplished. It would be
terribly disappointing since I relocate quite frequently (1-2 years at a
time) worldwide that I would not be able to use this vehicle in different
countries other than the United States.

I hope to hear some good news in regards to these questions, as these are
the only issues I have in regards to purchasing this vehicle.

Thank you for reading this email and I hope to hear from the BMW Genius
team shortly.

This was their reply..
