I think the LIV disruption will change how people make decisions. It's hard to predict the end result. Way too early. The Saudis have the money to keep this disruption up. The question will be if they can get the club manufacturers into the team aspect and will people watch. They can pump money in, but sponsors need to see value in giving dollars to LIV players. I think the supply of big names to poach will shrink considerably after this introductory stage. It will become about the younger, up and coming talent and which direction they choose to go. Also, will the world golf rankings accept the LIV tour? That's where the Majors come into play. Still a lot of questions out there.

It's an interesting development in golf and also a very interesting case study for business.
I agree with everything you remarked on. I am curious how people feel about the ethics and views of the Saudis and players defecting to a tour funded with Saudi money. It is a lot of money being thrown at these players which provokes the "what would you do" question.

Barkley's comments did get me thinking.
I think Barkley almost made a great point. I agree with him that civil rights here should be a focus before in Saudi, but I'd argue they're a pretty big damn focus here. The laughable part of being concerned over the Saudi's human rights abuses is that no one at ESPN is putting that kind of focus on other global markets (ahem… China… cough cough).

I do think the Saudi's inhumane acts, including beheading an actual journalist, is a huge problem for people. Enough that I think it's what is holding more people back from supporting it. But our current executive administration would rather placate the Saudi's than change domestic energy policy. You can bet that the feds investigating the PGA Tour for anti trust activity isn't coinciding with Biden asking them for help on oil by coincidence. So, it's hard to square all this up, if you're looking for evidence that "we" really care about human rights around the globe.

Now, what would I do? I'd like to say that's tough. But if my kid had the opportunity to try and grind on the KF tour and grind out a Tour card and then grind to try and win some events OR get a $20 million guaranteed pay day from LIV, I'd probably tell him to take the pay day. That's generational wealth for the vast vast majority of people on earth. The conflict would be if you/you're kid had legitimate shots at Major wins and were basically a lock to be on tour a decade+.
