Completely unnecessary. Oil technology is far above 3,000 miles of life. You will simply be paying for "piece of mind" (thinking you're doing the right thing). If your oil is no good after only 3,000 miles then you have bigger problems with your engine and putting new oil in isn't going to help you. It's simply a waste of oil, time, and money.
