Now that I've used my 5D MkIII for over 7,000 images, I'm noticing more and more how unreliable my 7D's AF is. Generally, when shooting wildlife, I've got my 500mm and 1.4X TC on the 5D MkIII and my 70-200mm f/4L IS on my 7D, both with AI Servo on, in case there's action. Sunday, a group of mule-deer bucks came walking by in nice light and low speed. One-third of my 7D images were OOF.

90% of my 5D MkIII images are critically sharp, in challenging circumstances and only 70% of my 7D images are critically focused, even in non-challenging situations.

I shot a gathering at my church on Sunday with lots of kids' activities. Almost every shot was in critical focus. This is typical, not the exception:
