Dinan did dyno's on two separate machines and got 540HP at the crank (there is a post here when they did it). Part of the issue for Joe customer is finding an AWD dyno - they are not on every corner as you know. This car is not 456HP stock. No way. As to comparing to your older M5, very hard to gauge HP by seat of the pants. |
Look, I don't mean to act cavalier and say "lol" but.. I bought and paid for Dinan knowing they are inflated stock #'s, but warrantied for my lease. Yes it adds power as in 34-50 hp and that's that. I support their tune in a way as a customer, so understand what is said below............
There is absolutely no way this car 2019 M550 is puting out 540hp stock HP! It's Common sense, Dinan came up with same number on "2seperate dynos"? There's not any chance, it's not possible. I'll put bypass plug in and dyno and put $1000 cash on the line it's not going to lay down 490RWHP stock period! I'll also put another $1000 down with the Dinan it's not putting down 530 to550 to the wheels on a mustang dyno.
I've tuned, built and raced a shit ton of BMW's, vetts, LS1,2 and 6 engines, 3 series, M5's(2 of them) , V10 M6's one with tune and one with Dinan, all my own cars. Meaning I'm not just shooting off in the dark about numbers.
On another side, It's funny we're talking about the engine putting out 80hp more than stated, and them rating the 2020 at 532hp. Agreed the have underestimated power but not by the amount Dinan does without the wheels and hooked up to lug nuts for the runs on "a car". Ive dyno'd many many cars, raced, tested and done enough runs over and over to know my car with Dinan may be 510-520 to the crank, period.
