Considering Ricciardo would be a waste of time also for Horner and he's only in the sister team through Horner's sympathy out of his past service, as mentioned before by Villeneuve.

Checo's got the spotlight right now. People either support him or want him axed. Dude better be hitting up his sponsors, because the media is sure all over the click-bait articles. From him potentially retiring, to people telling Horner how to run his team in their most sucessful year so far... Checo is getting a lot of air time.

Lawson has promise, but put him in a RB and he's going to get chewed up and spit out by Max. He needs to start at AT. I think signing Ric was a mistake, as much as I'm looking forward to his presence again in the sport. I lost faith in Ric after watching him struggle so much on multiple other teams. He didn't impress in his few outings in the AT either.
