I switched my M550i from Goodyear F1 RFT to Michelin Pilot AS/3+. I had ordered the car with the spare in anticipation of doing that. Note I wanted the specific rims so that forced the tire choice from the factory.

The ride is improved with far less crashing over potholes. Handling is a match, even going with the all season. I can also deal with light winter conditions. My only complaint is the AS/3s are a bit noisy at speed but they've gotten a bit better now. Or I'm used to it

The obvious downside to the spare is about 3" less height in the trunk. A toolbox I carry for autocross and other events just barely fits, so not much height.

Note the tires were less than a month old when I got a screw in one. So now it runs with a plug/patch. I didn't get a road hazard warrenty with the Michelin but at least I still have coverage on the wheels.
