Since cars here in the USA use the red light for braking and just general lightning when in the dark, having the turn signals as red are very distracting and blends in too much with the other red lights on the taillight.

When we got our 2015 550i xDrive, we went to the BMW dealership near the Welt and bought the Euro spec rear taillights. Brought the lights back with us and had our mechanic swap them out.

TLDR - Amber turn signals > red turn signals.

Everything you said is my exact mindset for red turn signals. Sure they're not a deal breaker, but I prefer amber ones on my car as well for turn signals on other cars. Some cars don't even have two separate lights for their indicator and break lights (seems more american manufacturers do this than any other I've seen. I believe I see Dodge does it more than anyone else). That gets me the most.
