Part of the limited options and set options and pack is because of the new WLTP emissions. Makes it easier for BMW to certify otherwise they will have to test everyone single option combination that is possible.
My only complaint is the lack of exterior trim combination (Chrome/Aluminium) on a MSport model. That option is available in other countries but not UK. I can go for a SE model for the Chrome but will lack the non Shiny black / High Gloss black trim.
