You could be right, but there could also be a change in the mounting points, wiring harness, etc.
Really, I think the iDrive 7 sucks and that was one reason I bought a 2019 instead of waiting for a 2020. My car is in the shop  right now so I've got an X5 loaner with iDrive 7 and I hate it, hate it, hate it. |
I also want that just because of customization options in the cluster. Constant view of map and song info makes digital cluster usable other than that it has no advantage over analog one except changing colors according to driving mode selected especially if you have a HUD.
