Have you done the review yourself?

It’s like pricing your car for sale. Do your research, and come up with the idea. You want to make sure you are not paid fairly to begin with, if you are willing to stay no matter what (which I respect).

Again to use car sales as examples, having other offers help your case to make more. You’re not selling for less than what a dealer would give you, as an example.

So usually what folks do is get an offer from another company before having the conversation. You don’t have to. But make sure your salary is in range first by doing a review yourself (or look for consultancy firms, hiring agencies, that do these reviews and download their reports), and then make sure your contributions make you worth it too (it helps if you are saving/bringing in cash to the company).
