My floor jack won't fit into the "official" plastic jack points under the car. It seems like lifting the car from those points would crack the plastic.

Yes, you must remove the wheel and the wheel well liner, so you obviously have to jack up the car. Put a short piece of 2X lumber on the jack pad to engage with the plastic part, and it will be fine.
Edit: Don't forget to use a jack stand for safety. Here is the alarm module installed with the liner removed, followed by a jacking pic on the other side of the car.
