Angry bird strike could cost 5k

Hi not sure if this topic / disaster has happened to anyone else,my wife travelling at about 50klm in town hits a bird ( she thinks didn't actually see it). Strikes bonnet which sets off pedestrian sensors bonnet explodes up from windscreen end about 150mm. can't get it down & also can't open it. bmw say its just doing its job. from a bird at that speed, WTF. I havn't got quotes yet but panel shop say it has to have all new sensors in front bumper, bonnet hinge sensors. new bonnet, a wheel alignment, plus this & that, took 3 of us about 5 mins to find a minor dent hardly noticeable. I"ll pay my excess have it fixed & the same thing could happen a week later. not good enough BMW. sensor setting is too sensitive!!! I love this car but i'm not happy. when i get quotes i'll put up a pic, hope this doesn't happen to anyone else very dissapointing.
