It's still viewed as the entry level BMW to most people since it's a high volume sedan with aggressive leases.

The 320i was a disgrace of a car. Think BMW tried to produce it so it would pull in new buyers at that price point. Anyone who bought a 320i got it pretty much because it was a cheap BMW and to sport the badge.
