That's a good question, but I don't have a real answer, but it's definitely not soapstone, so you've got that right.
The slab was was billed as "Panda Marble", but it has other elements in it including some very shiny gold veins and other crazy things nobody at the stoneyard has ever seen. It's not important enough to me to call in a geologist, so I guess I'll never really know what it's true classification is. I just hope it's not radioactive
