From our regional news:

TL;DR - A woman was charged with attempted arson a few months ago, but cut free because "attempted" arson does not qualify for bail under the crazy new state laws.
Yesterday, she disconnected the smoke alarms in a multi-family house, barricaded herself into her apartment, and set the place on fire. The other tenants got out safely, and the fire department and police forced entry into her burning apartment to pull her out as well. Six innocent people are now homeless and traumatized by this, and it could have been prevented if she was held after the first attempted arson.
On the bright side, six counts of attempted murder apparently still qualify for a mandatory jail stay under our bail reform laws...for the time being. Dollars to donuts, she'll be declared insane and on the streets again before long because it's inhumane to jail mentally-disturbed individuals.....
