The dragon is only one small portion of a large ring of roads. You can easily spend 3 hours taking the entire loop which also includes the Cherohala skyway. And since you are going in the summer you DO NOT want to miss this. Especially the tail. It is on a whole different level than alpine European passes. A different kind of thrill.
