I actually did not know that about the X5 and 7 series.
This is something that Audi does with their US spec cars which drives me crazy.
It took a while to figure out how to code our SQ5 when I swapped out the lights. I hope BMW doesn't go in Audi's direction and combine brake and turn signal lights! Of course they all get away only for N. American market as the rest of the world would not accept this nonsense.  |
I am with you 100%. Asinine to say the least. I have no idea why they go out of their way to make a separate set of parts (affecting the bottom line) when the majority of non-enthusiasts (not to mention enthusiasts) wouldn't care either way. Plus if someone really really wanted red lights they could always red them out themselves.
Maybe on my next car after this I'll be reaching out to you help code this nonsense away.
