Not as simple as a rubber block. Vibration absorbers are usually made of iron bonded to a rubber mount, tuned to a specific frequency.
There can be several of these around a vehicle, bolted to the diff, ARB mounts, even added to engine mounts. Take the one in the attached picture, fitted to an E61 535d rear ARB assembly.
To show how critical the tuned frequency, another example is the same item on an F10 520d. Originally a 35Hz vibration absorber, later superseded/changed to 42Hz. Diff mounted absorbers can vary in frequency, according to the model, diff ratio, etc. |
