I also own a 2016 X5 3.5d, was looking to upgrade to new X5 or X7.
For some weird reason the new X5 felt smaller to me (on the inside).
The interior look is VERY nice, i like it a lot.
The exterior won't be everyone's cup of tea.
Will wait to see the new X7 before before pulling the trigger but i'm really leaning towards X7 due to size (personal opinion).

The front legroom is shorter according to specs. That shocked me and is a killer for tall guys like me. I had hoped they would stretch it out a bit more or ditch the third row option.
