Because the CLS was a success
So BMW and Audi have to imitate so they don't lose market share
Stupid mentality but that's the way it is
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that if you keep increasing your sales, at some point, you become the run of the mill car, no longer premium
At that point resale values will start to drop
And the then the premium image of BMW will be gone
So increased profits at the expense if selling out is no reason to be jolly
