Perhaps they should be called "
Ironic Glow Kidney Lights"...because if they are to facilitate ingress and egress of the passengers...why are you illuminating the front of the car? Who climbs in and out of the vehicle through the hood?
. That's what the "welcome lights" that shine along the side of the car are for.
If you're going to illuminate the hood area...why not design a place for a light underneath the hood (like back in the 70s/80s) so that if you need to check something in the engine bay at night...you can actually see what you're doing. Similar to the reason why there's trunk lights.
My 2nd choice for a name would be "Pretentious Glow Kidney Lights". My 3rd choice for a name would be "Ostentatious Glow Kidney Lights?.
