After I posted earlier today, I thought about it a bit and came to the same conclusion - at least in my case... the suspension is designed for the rather heavy RFT tires, and putting lighter tires could make the wheel/tire combination a bit more bouncy, maybe reacting differently to road imperfections.
This does not, natch, affect those who have this problem with RFT, but maybe just exacerbates it.
