In any case, I guess my point is that this thread could just be called "Are there any more Japanese sports cars, period?" and it would not change the resulting discussion.
Sports cars in general are tapering off in popularity. The surging appeal of the SUV has caused a shift in aspirations to high end SUVs. While the sports car is sort of the the pinnacle of the passenger car ethos, there is no real equivalent "sports truck" that is the pinnacle of a light truck. The reason is that a truck is ultimately built around utility. The ultimate car is light, fast, minimalist, and sexy. The ultimate truck is heavy duty, spacious, ostentatious and brawny.
