Final update
Suddenly I got the magic message about a map update being available. I was driving along and there it was on I drive.
When home I checked my connected drive and sure enough the error message had gone and been replaced by the preselected choice of the uk as my choice of update.
Maybe this was in response to my complaint or maybe the magic just happened. Wonder how long it will take CS to reply .
