Pretty sure that the dealer is wrong. I have a confirmed European Delivery for an 2020 M550i on September 10 and I could have chosen a date in late August if I didn't have any individual options.
European Deliveries are made available once the initial production of dealer vehicles is well under way. I would expect them to start rolling in to dealerships around late August.
