Your weather in NYC isn't that different from ours in CT. My understanding is that the WP won't be safe if we get much snow at all. I think it's the "P" in WP that reduces the snow traction. To each their own, but I ain't taking chances with my baby this winter. I'll wait until the night before the first snow fall to switch wheels / tires and take them off just as soon as I can next spring. My last car was a 135is with Michelin WP tires and it was useless in snow. Had to drive my wife's 328xi way too often in the winter.
