Old can't be used with the new, you replace the whole wheel, sans the airbag and front decorative cover. There was a tread somewhere where one person did the cutouts themselves for the paddles. The mounting point in in there even for the ones that do not have paddle cutouts. The question is, how good are you with cutting instruments and how comfortable are you doing it. Easier to find a wheel with cut-outs. Or you can re-wrap your original.
