Agreed - I thought it sucked hairy ape nuts. I like Idris Elba a lot and hoped he'd help - but it didn't. The stupid shark didn't bother me as much as I thought, but the rest of the movie was just as stupid. Worse than they first - which is saying something.

DC movies hold no candle to Marvel movies - not even close.
I just enjoyed Sylvester Stallone as the Shark, lol. That and I found some artistic flair when Gunn showed what the world looks like from Harley Quinn's vision. (The cartoon animals and colorful flower petals instead of blood for example) but even that part doesn't make sense. She has zero powers but is meta lol.
I'm definitely gonna watch this when it comes to my On Demand. Mostly because it is so polarizing on this forum. I personally liked the first one, too.
Second one is NOTHING like the first. James Gunn has a habit of taking obscure characters (I didn't know anything about Guardians of the Galaxy for example) and he made them likable characters. I don't know too many directors who had the vision to turn Nanaue into what was on the screen. Apparently, he wrote the character WITH Stallone in mind the entire time - even though they weren't sure he'd say yes to a voiceover.

Zack Snyder makes dark and grainy movies with minimal character development and his characters tend to be damaged and broody at all times. A bit emo maybe. Even his recent zombie movie could've been so much more.

Gunn and Taika Waititi are some of the newer more enjoyable directors, at least in terms of what I find desirable from a director. It's no wonder they've become close and Gunn even gave Taika a bit role in The Suicide Squad. He was Ratcatcher 1, her father.
