That has to be plastic because that's where an additional RADAR sensor is. Kind of like how all phones have to have plastic seams somewhere on the body for radio signals to go through.

It can. It's part of the standard Ambient Lighting Package, and you can select from multiple colors, one of which is orange. (It's gonna be my pick for almost all evenings as well)
