I don't think we really know which car was easier to drive in the rain and/or faster potentially (not characteristics which necessarily go hand-in-hand). Also, rain may be called the great equalizer, and it does generally bring teams much closer, but it does not always make the differences between machinery inconsequential.
Guessing you've never been on track in the rain to see the differences setup can make.
