We should distinguish hesitation from soft tip-in. If I understand the OP, pressing the accelerator results in NOTHING happening for a split second. That is an unacceptable hesitation. That is different than having the first part of accelerator movement provide gentle but immediate acceleration.

I cannot imagine why anyone would want a jerky take-off at light throttle. That would make parking or driving in heavy stop & go traffic a herky jerky jumpy affair. My 550 has a more gentle tip-in (first 1/4 inch of throttle) than my Ford Ranger pick-up. However, beyond that initial 1/4 inch, there is no comparison in acceleration. Neither vehicle has hesitation.

If a quick punch of the throttle (beyond the first 1/4 inch) on a 550 doesn't instantly slam your head against the head restraints, something is wrong.
