if your mom's lease is expiring soon, i would throw the Kumho's on there (unless she has to deal with snow). she's, in essence, throwing money away, as she'll never see the full life of the tires. she just needs to get through a couple of months with these and return the car.

i wouldn't worry too much about the tires being "car" tires vs. "light truck" tires. i run "car" tires on my pickup, and have never had a problem. it's more a distinction for weight carrying load than anything else (if you check your mom's X3, she's probably got car tires on them. check it out by reading the size. unless it says "LT" on the size, it's not a light truck tire).
