This looks like the start of the subscription model of upselling services.
In the uk, the nice thing is that it may keep your car under the £40k threshold for luxury tax and services can be added later.

Has your car got last years version of ID7 ‘Lite’. I went to the new Connected Drive site and Drive Recorder was not available for my vehicle. Mine was an Oct 19 build so with ID7 and I have all cameras - driving assistant Advanced and parking assistant plus and Technology Pack including Icon lights - what could I be missing to get Drive Recorder ?
