Changing your midpipe (resonator) and muffler won't throw a code. If you change out your Downpipe with a catless or low cell count High Flow unit, you might throw a code. I don't know if BMWs go into limp mode and dump a bunch of fuel if you throw that code though. I do know that if you get a tune you can stop that sensor from initializing.

If your Smog guy just does the OBD scan, you will need to either flash a stock tune, or put in some spacers and turn on that sensor for it to be ready. If the shop is old school and hooks up the sniffer then you're better off swapping the stock downpipe in and flashing a stage 1 or stock tune to protect the engine.
