You could be right, but there could also be a change in the mounting points, wiring harness, etc.
Really, I think the iDrive 7 sucks and that was one reason I bought a 2019 instead of waiting for a 2020. My car is in the shop
right now so I've got an X5 loaner with iDrive 7 and I hate it, hate it, hate it.
