Not in a BMW, but I had, what was assumed something serious going on with my left kidney, attrocious pain.
Never related it to driving.
After a scan, nothing was found, and the specialist went through a heap of stuff with me.
Long story short - A broken spring in the seatback turned out to be the culprit.
Probably not the issue here, but worth checking.
