To clarify, if you have a 2020 530e with the iDrive 7, you would not be able to swap the amp. The reason is that on newer G-chassis cars with IDrive 7 and the new MGU headunit, the audio systems are wired differently and no longer use the MOST optic connections that were on the older models, but instead use the Ethernet Ring for the audio connections. They also split the duties from one amplifier to a 2-piece system (the Receiver Audo Module, or RAM, and the Booster/Amplifier) for the Harman Kardon and Bowers and Wilkins systems.

Not sure if the change from MOST optic to ethernet would cause the difference in sound quality or if it would be more the way the 2 cars are set up differently.
