Any chance the G30 will ever get iDrive 7?

I asked someone at the dealer, and he told me that BMW normally doesn't upgrade iDrive versions between cars, but he wasn't sure.

Is this true? In 2018/19 I would expect we're passed that time when firmware/software and hardware were one indivisible thing.
