I don't think it's about isolated superiority... it's about an empty parking lot providing opportunity to spread out a bit. It's like an empty bus and the person who boards it sits in the seat right next to you. Totally understandable if the bus is full... but if it's empty, I'd prefer to take that opportunity for a bit of personal space.

As for my wife parking next to me, that was a joke. Obviously I didn't mind it... just figured the irony was funny given that I started this thread.
