Are you simply looking to reduce weight? I'd recommend other options prior to this. Carbon fiber makes great stationary pieces (body panels, etc.), but it's hard to beat the hardiness, cost, and availablity of a steel driveshaft. I work in the aerospace industry with carbon fiber and any scrapes or nicks from rocks would make me want to replace the part.
