Very wise to start out slow then gradually work up to longer rides and increased fitness. My first road bike was a Schwinn Varsity in 1971, paid $50 for it and rode a century on it after 4-5 months. Thought I was going to die. I walked the last mile which was uphill. I was wasted.
A Felt is a good bike. Good Luck.
